Coaching Staff

Andy was a competitive athlete himself when he was younger and achieved representative honours at County, regional and national levels across 7 different sports. He is still the fastest Unstead over 50m Freestyle, much to his daughters’ annoyance! Following a lower back injury in his late teens, Andy was advised to avoid contact sports and now finds time to blow the cobwebs out by road cycling and running in his very limited spare time.

Years of participating in sport at various levels has given Andy vital experience and knowledge, which he is eager to share with the club swimmers during every session. He has always enjoyed the technical side of sport and has introduced some innovative ideas and practices with our swimmers in order to give them the best competitive advantage possible.

Andy is also very passionate about ensuring that swimming with TASC remains a positive and engaging experience and so makes every session a challenge both physically and mentally in order to keep our swimmers moving forward in a happy and positive manner. Andy is a level 1 qualified swim teacher as well as a level 1 & 2 qualified  swim coach. He is also a qualified time-keeper. The squad will tell you that Andy always has a motivational quote up his sleeve to keep them going during a difficult set with his favourite one being “Hard-work beats talent when talent doesn’t work hard".
