About Torridgeside Amateur Swimming Club
Torridgeside Swimming Club is run by a team of volunteer coaches and helpers. Over the years there have been several variations of the club, from all the local clubs becomming one North Devon swimming club to eventually becoming an independent club, Torridgeside.
We have two training sites; Northam, where we have our development swimmers on a Sunday night, and 4 more sessions a week (including main squad) at Torrington, our other training site. Torrington is a 4 lane 25 metre swimming pool and Northam is a 5 lane 25 metre with full training facilities. Competitions are held at Torrington pool.
We have great links with some of the local swimming schools which are great feeders into the club.
We have many swimmers that have qualifying times for county events and we compete at the Devon County relays, sprints and development galas. There are also many opportunities for Open Meets including the Tiverton and Exeter Meets which are always very popular.
Locally we hold an annual Club Development Gala. This is for swimmers of all ages and is always very popular. As it's usually the first gala members participate in it's a great confidence booster, especially with our younger swimmers.
Towards the end of the year we have the Club Championships. All ages compete in short and long distance events over several weekends. Awards are handed out at our presentation and awards evening in January which is followed by a disco to finish the night off.
